Sydney melodic hardcore group Bloom have announced their sophomore album 'The Light We Chase', set for release on October 31st via Pure Noise Records.
Drummer Jack Van Vliet describes the upcoming record as an exploration of contradiction, explaining "In many ways, the album is an oxymoron. You can't catch light in your hands, and you can't have darkness without the light casting its shadow." He adds that this represents their "widest exploration of how far metalcore can be pushed and shaped, this album is lyrically diverse as it is instrumentally."
The album reflects a period of emotional turmoil, exploring relationship breakdowns, struggles with trust, and wrestling with hopelessness. The latest single 'Withered' tackles profound questions about self-worth with what the band describes as their heaviest instrumentals on the entire record. Van Vliet explains the track examines "Was this relationship worth it? Is my career everything I thought it would be? Is the life I'm living worth all the things I've gone through?" - questioning whether we hope hard enough for the lives we dream of.
Next Month, Bloom will embark on their Withered Across Australia tour, heading to Adelaide, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney, supported by Inertia and Post Heaven.
