Australia’s premier heavy-hitters Stand Atlantic are back on home soil, and they’ve arrived with a vengeance. Celebrating the release of their brand-new fifth studio record, GODBREATH, the Sydney four-piece officially kicked off their highly anticipated national headline tour in Brisbane—and if the opening night is anything to go by, fans across the rest of the country are in for one hell of a ride.

Dropping a record and immediately launching a massive national run is no small feat, but Stand Atlantic do not do things by halves. Pushing past genre boundaries with heavier riffs, razor-sharp pop instincts, and raw lyrical vulnerability, the new record represents the band at their most fearless.
Covering the album drop and tour launch, AAA Backstage highlighted how the 11-track release marks a defiant turning point for the band:
"The 11-track record sees the Sydney four-piece pushing creative boundaries, embracing raw emotion and rediscovering their musical identity following a challenging period of writer's block... Recorded live to capture the band's unmistakable chemistry, GODBREATH delivers an explosive combination of infectious pop hooks, gritty guitars and emotionally charged songwriting."

Frontwoman Bonnie Fraser also broke down the swagger behind recent single "SO COOL", describing the track as a reminder of those effortless moments of self-belief:
"I thought about those ridiculous moments when you just feel shamelessly cool – it's a fun song to play in your car with the windows rolled down. To make you feel like you're in the VIP section of life."

Bringing that very energy straight to Meanjin/Brisbane, the tour launch at Fortitude Music Hall set the standard for what these shows deliver: pure, unfiltered adrenaline. Joined by US pop-punk favorites Knuckle Puck and Melbourne powerhouses nightlight, the bill delivered from the first chord to the final breakdown.
Awarding the opening show 4.5 out of 5 stars, Jodie Sloan at The AU Review captured the electric atmosphere inside the room:
"From an all girl stage invasion during, naturally, 'Girl$' to a contemplative rendition of 'Skinny Dipping', to vocalist Bonnie Fraser putting in an appearance in the pit for 2017's 'Coffee At Midnight', the show was an energetic exploration of Stand Atlantic's back catalogue."

Sloan drove home just how undeniable Stand Atlantic are on stage:
"And, most importantly, they're bloody good live. For all the inflatable beach balls, fireworks, and confetti, it's reassuring to see a slightly awkward stage presence give way to a band that can put on a hell of a show... In a genre so dominated by US artists, Stand Atlantic remain a powerful reminder that some of the best pop punk is actually homegrown."
