Legendary Brazilian trio and “samba doido” pioneers Azymuth are set to make their anticipated return to Australia this October and November. Proudly presented by Destroy All Lines, the group will be joined by acclaimed Nu-Bossa star Sabrina Malheiros, who has become one of Brazil’s most distinctive and beloved contemporary voices.Azymuth last made their way down under in 2022, joined by genre-blending Brazilian icon Marcos Valle, where they performed to sold-out crowds in Sydney and Melbourne including three back-to-back shows at the Night Cat, plus a very special appearance at WOMADelaide for the festival’s 30th anniversary. The group most notably forged the exhilarating “samba doido” genre in the 1970s - a unique fusion of jazz-funk and samba that has carved out their reputation as one of Brazil’s most influential bands. Across their 50 year career, Azymuth have produced over thirty records, collaborated across genres with the likes of 4hero, Madlib, Jazzanova and more, and had their music sampled and remixed across dancefloors and DJ sets worldwide. Earlier this year they released Marca Passo, their first full-length studio album since 2016’s Fênix, presenting a masterful blend of their signature samba‐funk grooves reimagined with fresh electronic textures. On stage, Azymuth remain a formidable musical force. Their live performances vibrate with the full spectrum of expressionist funk, cosmic improvisations, and immaculate musicianship, justifying their enduring title as the world’s greatest three-man orchestra. Staying true to their roots while evolving with each new recording, Azymuth’s journey from samba doido pioneers to global electronic ambassadors is unrivaled in depth and longevity. The upcoming tour will mark Sabrina Malheiros’ first performances in Australia, gracing audiences with her elegant fusion of samba, PBD, nu-boss and soulful broken beats. Sabrina’s musical roots run deep - as the daughter of Azymuth founding member and bassist Alex Malherios, her upbringing instilled in her a passion for music and performance that paved the way for a career that seamlessly bridges Brazilian musical traditions with global dancefloor sensibilities. In 2005, Sabrina released her debut album Equilibria, a creative and undeniably fresh take on bossa nova, enriched by electronic textures and neo- soul warmth. Her follow up works New Morning (2008), Dreaming (2011), and Clareia (2017) further cemented her rise as one of Brazil’s most exciting and innovative new artists.Over the past two decades, Sabrina has performed at leading venues and festivals across Europe, Asia, and South America, building a loyal audience
