Formed in Denton, Texas in 1999, MIDLAKE have spent more than two decades crafting some of the most evocative and enduring music in modern indie folk and psychedelic rock. Now, the acclaimed six-piece return to Australia for their first shows since 2014, bringing with them songs from their acclaimed sixth album, A Bridge To Far.
Recorded at The Echo Lab in Denton and produced by Sam Evian, A Bridge To Far finds Midlake at their most authentic and self-assured. Rooted in themes of hope, perseverance and human connection, the album balances the band's trademark atmosphere and rich musicality with a renewed sense of purpose.
Lead single ‘The Ghouls’ became a catalyst for the band's creative resurgence, while tracks such as ‘The Calling’, ‘Days Gone By’ and ‘Guardians’ showcase a group continuing to evolve without losing sight of what has made them so beloved. Featuring guest appearances from Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Madison Cunningham, along with Hannah Cohen and Meg Lui, the album captures a band fully comfortable in its own identity.
"The reference and inspiration is Midlake," says frontman Eric Pulido. "This album is less about sounding like someone else and more about sounding like us."
More than 25 years after first forming, Midlake remain bound by a shared love of creating music together. A Bridge To Far stands as a testament to that enduring connection, and Australian audiences will finally have the chance to experience these remarkable new songs live when Midlake return in March 2027.
