A celebrated entertainment hub, hosting some of Melbourne's most in-demand DJ and electronic live music events, the Riviera Beach Club has become the city's secret summer party venue. Following the resounding acclaim of the Polaris-curated Life's A Beach event earlier this year, the Riviera Beach Club's reputation has since expanded to offer heavy music fans a chance to soak up some beachside breakdowns and surging riffs, surrounded by palm trees, sunshine and plenty of spectacular summer chaos.
Headlined and hand-picked by Australian heavy icons THORNHILL, SURF'S UP FESTIVAL in 2027 will also feature an array of some of the local scene's most exciting up-and-comers as well as some international heavy-hitters including STAND ATLANTIC, ALPHA WOLF, SACE6 (USA), JUSTICE FOR THE DAMNED, VARIALS (USA), HEADWRECK, BLOOM and BLINDER.
"We’re bringing SURF'S UP! Festival to life. Personally curated by the 4 of us, we are stoked to be joined by some of the best names in Australian heavy music. Expect big riffs, good times and a whole lot of energy. Melbourne, we’ll see you in February!" - Thornhill
Widely revered as one of the most innovative and fearless acts on the heavy music scene, THORNHILL have spent the past decade chiseling their signature sound into something both singular and universal, captivating a global audience in the process. From the acclaimed release of their 2019 debut album The Dark Pool, which hit #20 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart and became an instant staple for the modern metalcore scene, THORNHILL went on to redefine themselves with 2022's Heroine, welcoming sultry grit and cinematic lustre that expanded their reach internationally, climbed to #3 on the ARIA Australian Albums Chart and secured an ARIA Award nomination. But in 2025, the group boldly stepped into a career-defining era, releasing their third LP BODIES which debuted at #4 on the ARIA Album Chart. BODIES won an ARIA award for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Album and Best Independent Heavy Album Or EP at the AIR Awards. The album was nominated for Australian Album of the Year at the J Awards and Most Performed Hard Rock/Heavy Metal Work at APRA Music Awards.
Having wowed crowds at home and abroad over the years, THORNHILL's live show has seen them tour with everyone from Sleep Token to Bring Me The Horizon, Architects, Avenged Sevenfold and Northlane, along with selling out their own headline shows overseas and at home, and performances at the UK's Download Festival, Welcome to Rockville, Hellfest, Graspop Metal Meeting, Good Things Festival and many more. In 2026, THORNHILL marked their biggest-ever headline shows to date, touring across the country for their completely sold out BODIES Australian Tour. Praised during the run by Scenestr for "moving flawlessly between soft yet haunting moments and crushing heavies", THORNHILL's headline outing at their curated SURF'S UP FESTIVAL in 2027 will welcome the group to a stage on home soil once again in spectacular fashion.
Dubbed by Kerrang! as one of the "Hottest Rock Artists" in the world in 2017, STAND ATLANTIC have catapulted from underground infamy into international acclaim. Now in command of five studio albums, including their critically-acclaimed new 2026 LP Godbreath, STAND ATLANTIC have also ticked off a horde of milestone accolades over the years which include several influential Top 10 lists, taking home triple j's Feature Album more than once, charting on the Billboard Top 100, UK Top 200 Albums and Australian Albums Charts, to selling tens of thousands of tickets across the globe and performing at Warped Tour, Good Things Festival, Reading & Leeds Festival and Slam Dunk Festival.

Their 2020's A Quiet Place To Die debuted at #6 on the ARIA Albums Chart and earned an ARIA Award nomination for Best Hard Rock or Heavy Metal Album. In 2024, the group dropped their third studio album Half Living Things, securing a GRAMMY Award nomination for Best Boxed or Special Limited Edition Package, debuting at #2 on the ARIA Australian Albums Charts and accumulating resounding acclaim. From completely selling out their 2024 Australian Half Living Things tour, to touring the globe, ALPHA WOLF are set to perform at Froth and Fury Fest and Hellbound 2 Cruise in 2027.
Turning emotional contrast into sonic chemistry, American duo SACE6 weave pop melodies with R&B intimacy and metal intensity, emerging with a sound where genres are forced to unforgettably coexist. Built on monochromatic romanticism and a tension-heavy aesthetic, SACE6 have taken the world by storm in a short space of time, touring with Dayseeker, DON BROCO, Northlane and more. Releasing their debut full-length album brutalist earlier this year, the pair made their Australian debut supporting nothing, nowhere. last April, and will also appear in 2027 supporting Dayseeker for a national Australian run.
Sydney's JUSTICE FOR THE DAMNED have tirelessly toured nationally and internationally since 2017, cultivating acclaim for their intense live shows in the process. Solidifying their place in the heavy music scene via their landmark 2020 sophomore album Pain Is Power, the band released their third studio album Stay Relentless in 2025, taking out #13 on the ARIA Top 50 Albums Charts. Previously touring with Killswitch Engage, Kublai Khan TX and many more, JUSTICE FOR THE DAMNED will close out 2026 supporting Guilt Trip in Europe and the UK, as well as at SPEED's Christmas end of year show.
Hailing from Philadelphia, VARIALS channel hardcore intensity and nu metal grooves into something unapologetically human. Building their reputation over the years on unflinching honesty across 2017's Pain Again, 2019's In Darkness and 2022's Scars for You to Remember, 2026 saw the group unveil their fourth studio album Where the Light Leaves, showcasing emotional performances and new melodic textures that results in an outing that is both crushing and alive. VARIALS most recently toured Australia nationally supporting Spite and are currently touring North America supporting Wage War.
Brisbane nu metal quartet HEADWRECK have relentlessly carved out a name for themselves, from their debut EP Glamorise Demise, which took out triple j Unearthed's Feature Artist of the Week through to their most recent album, 2025's Attitude Adjustment, debuting #43 on the ARIA Albums Charts and are set to perform at this year's Good Things Festival in December. One of the country's most exciting rising heavy acts, Sydney's BLOOM bring an open-veined take on the melodic hardcore realms. Fresh off performing at the inaugural Hellbound Cruise and touring North America sharing stages with everyone from Silverstein to Bad Omens and Make Them Suffer. And hailing from Adelaide, BLINDER create atmospheric, guitar-driven music that nods to elements of grungegaze, nu metal, shoegaze and alternative rock. An immersive sonic lovechild of Deftones, Fleshwater and Loathe, BLINDER recently toured Australia supporting Ocean Grove.
